Programme Notes for THE SPELLBOUND BOY

Audio Description on Sunday 19th March at 7.30 in the Crescent Arts Centre. Notes will be read ten minutes before the performance.

Open Arts Community Choir, Luminous Soul dancers, Monday Players Drama group the Gamelan ensemble, and pianist and flute player, tell the story of the Spellbound boy, which is an adaptation of Ravel’s opera.

Scolded by his mother for bad behaviour, the boy destroys the chairs, bean bag, story book, clock, football poster, and family photo in his bedroom.

His belongings then come to life, and tell him of the wrong that he has done.

THE MOTHER is acted by ANNA KYLE. Oval faced with short dark hair, she is of medium height and slim. ELAINE PELAN sings the part of MOTHER.

THE FATHER is played by ROBERT NOLAN.

THE CLOCK, is played by GARETH SMYTH, wearing a large clock face suspended from a broad band round his neck. Gareth is tall, and broad, with plump face and grey hair, balding on top. He also sings with choir.
