Adventures of Red Riding Hood
We are delighted to take you on an intergalactic journey through the Universe this Christmas with The Adventures of Red Riding Hood. Prepare to be astonished, dazzled and entertained in this magical Christmas comedy when the fairytale planet breaks through the digital screen to bring you an unforgettable theatre experience!
We have an incredible multi-talented cast who can’t wait to bring you on an adventure where the wolf does his best to be good, Red Riding Hood can't help but take the wrong path and Goldilocks's poor Airbnb reviews are a sight to behold!
Thank you so much for choosing the MAC and enjoy the show. Now prepare for departure!"
The Set
The set is apparently a plain white wall facing us at the back of the stage. Parts of the wall detach, so a large block of it slides forward and can be twisted to one side or another. Within this removable block are two smaller sections to right and left. When these smaller sections slide out they leave behind them a large arch with a solid top panel and side panels. It is all very chunky. Above the back wall is a computer screen which at the beginning of the play has the Mac logo in white centred on the screen with circular electronic waves of pale green light moving in and out around it. Angled over the stage above it are two large luminous green circles. The floor of the stage is almost covered by a large lit white circle with wavy lines inside it indicating electronic connections.
There is a great deal of projection onto screens in this production. The screens can be to the side on the smaller blocks or behind on the larger block or the back wall. There are also projections on the screen above the stage.
The opening scene shows the projected image of Fairyville High School a Victorian style building enclosed by a fence and large ironwork gates. After a few seconds a School For Sale sign is projected over the gates.
There is a projection of the 3 Pigs house. It is an old fashioned picturesque cottage. There is a climbing plant growing up the exterior walls and a mat on the floor inside with pictures on the walls.
The wolf’s projected house has sand coloured walls inside. It’s lit by two windows and there are pictures framed on the walls and there are cushions scattered on the floor.
Granny’s house, shown on a projection, has pink walls a yellow sofa with cushions and pictures on the walls.
An important prop is the mobile phone which is essential to Red Riding Hood. It is covered in a furry bunny case.
